Santa-Claus Rally

Since 1945, the S&P 500 has retuned on average 1.7% in the month of December, which is the strongest month of the year for equity markets. And it’s quite common that those gains come just after Christmas and into the New Year.

According to The Wall Street Journal, historically, the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq have risen about 80% of the time during the period and the average returns for the S&P 500 and Nasdaq over the period have been 1.3% and 1.8%, respectively.
