US Core Inflation and Consumer Spending Slightly Rise in August

The Federal Reserve's key measures of US core inflation and consumer spending showed slight increases in August, highlighting a cooling economy.

Data released by the Bureau of Economic Analysis on Friday indicated that the core Personal Consumption Expenditures (PCE) Price Index, which excludes volatile food and energy items, rose by 0.1% from July. Inflation-adjusted spending also saw a 0.1% increase.
