Mixed Performance for Chinese Stocks as HXC Rises 0.45%

Chinese stocks had a mixed performance. The Nasdaq Golden Dragon China Index (HXC) rose 0.45%, marking a 30% increase for September. Among the gainers, JD.com (JD, Financial) increased by 0.25%, Baidu (BIDU) by 0.11%, BeiGene (BGNE) by 2.79%, ZTO Express (ZTO) by 2.69%, NIO (NIO) by 2.45%, Futu Holdings (FUTU) by 11.64%, New Oriental Education (EDU) by 3.23%, Bilibili (BILI) by 2.01%, Kanzhun (BZ) by 1.05%, MINISO Group (MNSO) by 2.39%, Zeekr (ZKR) by 5.69%, 360 DigiTech (QFIN) by 0.78%, and Atour Lifestyle Holdings (ATAT) by 2.21%.

On the downside, Taiwan Semiconductor (TSM) fell by 2.42%, Alibaba (BABA) by 1.13%, Pinduoduo (PDD) by 0.42%, NetEase (NTES) by 0.07%, Trip.com (TCOM) by 3.08%, Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) by 1.39%, Li Auto (LI) by 0.50%, KE Holdings (BEKE) by 0.45%, ASE Technology (ASX) by 4.22%, United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC) by 3.55%, Tencent Music (TME) by 1.87%, Huazhu Group (HTHT) by 1.30%, XPeng (XPEV) by 4.25%, Full Truck Alliance (YMM) by 2.07%, Vipshop (VIPS) by 0.25%, WSP Holdings by 3.28%, GDS Holdings (GDS) by 2.06%, and Autohome (ATHM) by 1.21%.

U.S. stocks slightly increased on Monday. All three major indexes recorded gains for September and the third quarter. Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell indicated that there won't be aggressive interest rate cuts, leading traders to change their overall rate cut bets. The HXC index saw substantial growth in September, closing the month with a 30% rise.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 17.15 points, or 0.04%, to 42,330.15. The Nasdaq Composite increased by 69.58 points, or 0.38%, to 18,189.17, and the S&P 500 added 24.31 points, or 0.42%, to 5,762.48. By the end of September, the Dow had risen by 1.85%, the Nasdaq by 2.68%, and the S&P 500 by 2.02%. For the third quarter, the Dow climbed 8.2%, the Nasdaq 2.6%, and the S&P 500 by 5.53%.
