Seven & i Holdings, the parent company of 7-Eleven in Japan, is reportedly preparing to initiate the process of selling a majority stake in its supermarket business by the end of the year. This move includes its Ito Yokado chain of supermarkets. The company has not commented on these reports.
In April, Seven & i Holdings indicated that it was considering taking its supermarket business public. More recently, in September, the company rejected a $39 billion acquisition offer from Canadian company Alimentation Couche-Tard.
