Disney (DIS) Braces for Financial Impact Due to Hurricanes

Article's Main Image

Raymond James analysts, Ric Prentiss and Brent Penter, have highlighted the potential financial impact of recent hurricanes on Disney (DIS, Financial). The company is preemptively closing several theme parks and facilities in anticipation of Hurricane Milton, following a similar closure after Hurricane Helene.

Such measures, according to the analysts, are prudent as hurricanes affect not just the parks themselves but also the related transportation services. The closures come shortly after Hurricane Helene forced early shutdowns, which already impacted Disney's financial results in the fourth quarter of fiscal year 2024. Hurricane Milton is expected to influence the first quarter of fiscal year 2025.

Orlando, home to Disney's largest theme park complex, is predicted to see significant effects on the company's parks, cruises, and resorts division during these fiscal periods.
