Airbus (AIR.PA) Reports 9% Drop in September Deliveries Amid Rising Orders

Airbus (AIR.PA) announced a 9% year-over-year decline in its aircraft deliveries for September, totaling 50 planes. Despite this decrease, the company received over 200 new aircraft orders, indicating strong market demand.

So far this year, Airbus has delivered 497 aircraft, marking a 2% increase compared to the 488 delivered by the same time last year. This aligns with earlier reports, highlighting Airbus's commitment to maintaining production despite supply chain issues.

In July, Airbus revised its annual delivery target from 800 to 770 aircraft, citing ongoing supply chain disruptions affecting engine and parts availability. Industry sources suggest that September's lower delivery numbers indicate a challenging fourth quarter ahead, as Airbus aims to meet its target.

Airbus is optimistic about achieving its annual goal of around 770 aircraft, which requires delivering 273 planes in the coming months, an 11% increase over the same period last year.

Simultaneously, Boeing (BA) announced layoffs due to difficulties in commercial aircraft manufacturing, related to ongoing strikes and similar supply chain issues faced by Airbus. Senior executives indicated that these measures are necessary to navigate the industry challenges.

In September, despite the hurdles, Airbus secured 235 new orders, including 75 narrow-body jets and 10 wide-body A350s for an undisclosed client.
