Apple (AAPL, Financial) executive Dan Riccio is set to leave the company, having focused on the development of the Vision Pro headset since 2021. Sources indicate that Riccio will exit the tech giant sometime this month. With a mechanical engineering degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst, Riccio has had a significant career at Apple, contributing for 26 years in various capacities.

Following his departure, John Ternus, Apple's head of hardware engineering, will oversee the Vision Products Group, which consists of thousands of engineers working on headsets and related technologies. Mike Rockwell, previously Riccio's trusted deputy, will lead the group. Apple has not provided an official comment regarding Riccio's departure.

Riccio's contributions extend beyond the Vision Pro, including development work on products like AirPods, iPad Pro, larger iPhone models, and Apple's unsuccessful automotive venture. Additionally, another senior Apple executive, procurement chief Dan Rosckes, is also set to retire.
