AMD Unveils New Server Chips to Challenge Nvidia in AI Market

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD, Financial) has introduced a new line of server chips at an event in San Francisco, aiming to strengthen its position in the AI chip market, currently dominated by Nvidia (NVDA). This launch includes a revised central processing unit (CPU) design within the series previously codenamed "Turin".

One of the standout chips in this series is specifically designed to enhance data delivery to graphics processing units (GPUs), thereby accelerating AI processing speeds. This flagship chip offers nearly 200 processing cores and is priced at $14,813. The entire processor series is built on the Zen 5 architecture, promising up to a 37% speed increase for advanced AI data computations.
