TSMC Plans New Factory in Kumamoto to Expand Chip Production

TSMC (TSM, Financial) is set to build a second factory in Kumamoto's Kikuyo Town, bolstering its production capacity in Japan. The new facility, led by its subsidiary JASM, is slated to commence construction this year and start operations by 2027. Preparations for the project are on track.

The upcoming factory will be located to the east of TSMC's first factory and will collaborate in producing chips ranging from 6 to 40 nanometers.
