Expanding its product-line in the cutthroat AI space, tech giant Microsoft (MSFT, Financial) is set to introduce its autonomous AI agents for enterprises next month. This action coincides with Salesforce's (CRM, Financial) September announcement of configurable AI models, shedding light on what's likely to be another competitive race.

Microsoft Chairman and CEO Satya Nadella recently wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter, "Copilot is the UI for AI, and with Copilot Studio, customers can easily create, manage, and connect agents to Copilot". Moreover, with 10 new autonomous agents already shown to serve teams in sales, service, finance, and supply chain management, Microsoft's new capabilities will span Copilot Studio and Dynamics 365. These agents are meant to improve effectiveness in a variety of corporate spheres.

Microsoft debuted some autonomous agent capabilities in Copilot Studio earlier this year. Starting next month, these functionalities will move from private to public preview so that more people may include AI into important corporate operations. The AI agents make use of systems of record, Dataverse, Fabric, context of work data from Microsoft 365 Graph, While serving as personal assistants for sales and service teams, therefore optimizing operations across businesses, they can manage a wide variety of task ranging from IT help desk support to employee onboarding.
