Qualcomm has announced plans to incorporate technology originally developed for laptop processors into its mobile phone chips to enhance AI processing capabilities. Previously, Qualcomm hired former Apple engineers to develop a new generation of laptop chips, which launched successfully and demonstrated Qualcomm's strong expertise in AI technology.

The company is now integrating this technology, known as "Oryon," into its mobile chips. The newly redesigned Snapdragon 8 Elite chip is optimized for better handling of AI tasks such as image and text generation. To support developers, Qualcomm is providing special tools to maximize the chip's performance on the Android operating system, in addition to existing tools from Alphabet (GOOGL, Financial).

Qualcomm's Senior Vice President and General Manager of Mobile Handsets, Chris Patrick, expressed confidence in the company's AI technology, noting that while Google leads AI development, Qualcomm has robust offerings for developers. Prominent companies like Samsung, ASUS, and Xiaomi have already announced plans to adopt this new chip.
