French investment firm Wendel Group announced its acquisition of a 75% stake in the U.S. asset management company Monroe Capital with an initial investment of $1.13 billion. The company anticipates that its asset management platform will generate approximately €185 million ($200 million) in pre-tax profits by 2025. This agreement includes an $800 million sponsorship program designed to accelerate Monroe Capital's growth.

Under the terms of the agreement, Monroe Capital will continue to operate independently under its existing brand, and its investment committee will maintain autonomy. Wendel Group stated that this acquisition marks significant strategic progress in its efforts to expand its third-party asset management platform, complementing its long-standing principal investment business, a strategy unveiled in March 2023.

The transaction is expected to be finalized in the first half of 2025.
