Featuring the new M4 chip family, Apple Inc. (AAPL, Financial) unveiled its newest MacBook Pro models today. Part of Apple's ongoing unveiling of new Mac models this week, the statement emphasizes the tech behemoth's drive toward improved AI integration and performance capability.
Built on 3-nanometer technology, M4, M4 Pro, and M4 Max CPUs make up the new MacBook Pro family. Johny Srouji, Apple's senior vice president of hardware technology, said the chips include the "world's fastest CPU core," along with more potent GPUs and the quickest Neural Engine yet. The M4 processors also bring a better ray-tracing engine for maximum graphic performance.
Comprising up to 32GB of unified memory and 120GB/s memory bandwidth, the M4 processors enable two external displays alongside a built-in display. Moreover, Apple's laptops now include Thunderbolt 5 in the M4 Pro and M4 Max models, a first. Starting at $1,599, the 14-inch MacBook Pro runs; the 16-inch version runs at $2,499. Today is pre-order; availability begins November 8. While Apple kept revealing improvements to its Mac portfolio, which earlier included new iMac and Mac mini models, its stock dropped about 1% by lunchtime trading.
