The UAE energy giant ADNOC, led by CEO Sultan Al Jaber, has announced collaboration with G42, Microsoft (MSFT, Financial), and AIQ to integrate highly autonomous artificial intelligence (AI) agents into the energy industry. This initiative, supported by the UAE government, aims to reduce the nation's reliance on oil and diversify its economy by leveraging advanced technologies from other countries.
G42, with a major investment of $1.5 billion from Microsoft made in April, is spearheading this project to enhance the UAE's tech industry. The collaboration has also resulted in the launch of ENERGYai, a groundbreaking AI solution centered on specialized AI agents designed to work autonomously while integrating seamlessly with existing workflows.
AI agents are capable of perceiving environments, autonomously understanding, making decisions, and executing actions. They optimize and accumulate knowledge through machine learning and deep learning technologies, constantly improving their performance and accuracy based on feedback.
ENERGYai, built on ADNOC's decades of data, aims to set new standards for precision, efficiency, and sustainability in the energy industry. Sultan Al Jaber highlighted that ENERGYai can analyze petabyte-level data and autonomously determine operational improvements, significantly reducing seismic survey times and increasing production forecasting accuracy by 90%.
This significant development promises to enhance ADNOC's competitive edge and innovation capacity in the global energy industry, helping the company better utilize data and promote sustainable energy solutions.
Meanwhile, the UAE is investing billions in AI, including developing Arabic and Hindi chatbot applications similar to OpenAI's ChatGPT. This investment is expected to maintain the UAE's global economic significance long after oil demand diminishes, thereby boosting its international influence.
