Kroger (KR, Financial), a major grocery chain, has agreed to a $1.37 billion settlement related to its role in the opioid crisis in the United States. As part of this settlement, Kroger will implement measures to monitor, report, and share data on suspicious opioid prescription activities through its pharmacies.
Nevada will receive up to $26.7 million from this settlement, with payments starting next year. This agreement follows Kroger's announcement in the second quarter of 2023 that it had allocated $1.4 billion for nationwide opioid settlements, resulting in a $1.54 loss per share for that period.
It is important to note that Kroger reached this settlement without admitting to any wrongdoing or liability.
