Toyota Motor Corporation reported a decline in global production for the tenth consecutive month in November, despite strong demand in the U.S. and China boosting global sales for the second month in a row. The company produced 869,230 vehicles worldwide, a 6.2% decrease from the previous year, a sharper decline than October's 0.8% drop.
In the U.S., production fell by 11.8%, even though production of the Grand Highlander and Lexus TX SUVs resumed after a four-month halt. In China, production decreased by 1.6%, an improvement from October's 9% drop, thanks to increased sales of the Granvia and Sienna vans and the bZ3 electric sedan developed with BYD.
Japan, which accounts for about a third of Toyota's global production, saw a 9.3% decline due to temporary factory shutdowns. Despite production challenges, global sales rose by 1.7% to 920,569 vehicles, setting a November record.
