The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced that Ford Motor Company is recalling 20,484 hybrid SUVs due to battery issues. The recall affects Ford Escape and Lincoln Corsair models from 2020 to 2024. The NHTSA identified a manufacturing defect in one or more high-voltage battery cells, which could lead to an internal short circuit and battery failure.

To address the issue, Ford dealers will provide a free update to the battery energy control module software and replace the high-voltage battery pack if necessary.
