According to industry sources, Apple plans to begin mass production of a new, affordable iPhone model in mid-January 2025. Foxconn, one of Apple's major contract manufacturers, is reportedly recruiting workers in preparation for this production phase.
Supply chain insiders have confirmed that Foxconn's hiring efforts are aimed at facilitating the mass production of this upcoming iPhone variant. Additionally, a source from within Apple's supply chain mentioned that components have already been delivered for the new model, which is expected to be a lower-priced addition to the iPhone lineup.
Industry analysts have noted that the basic model of Apple's iPhone 16, released in Fall 2024, has experienced weaker than expected demand, putting pressure on its sales. The launch of the new affordable iPhone model is anticipated to help mitigate the impact of the underwhelming iPhone 16 sales performance.
