Guy Spier Profile

Since founding New York-based Aquamarine Capital Management in 1997, Guy Spier has managed its privately offered investment funds. The firm manages $350 million in assets and has around 150 investors, which include family, friends and other third-party investors.
Earning an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1993, he previously worked as an investment banker in New York and as a management consultant in London and Paris. Spier also has a First Class degree in politics, philosophy and economics from Oxford University.
Spier, who lives in Zurich, Switzerland with his family, wrote “The Education of a Value Investor” in 2014.

Aquamarine’s investment philosophy was modeled on the original 1950s Buffett partnerships. A disciple of Warren Buffettt, Spier closely follows his principles on value investing and capital allocation.
Focusing primarily on global, long-term value, Spier makes all of the firm’s investment decisions. Any publicly traded security can be considered for investment.
