OPPENHEIMER FUNDS INC Profile
Oppenheimer Funds Inc. was created out of Oppenheimer & Co. in the 1960s when the parent company decided to form the three operating subsidiaries: Oppenheimer & Co., a brokerage firm, Oppenheimer Capital Corporation, an institutional investment manager, and Oppenheimer Management Corporation, which would become renamed to Oppenheimer Funds Inc. Since Oppenheimer Fund’s first IPO in 1959, the company has expanded, launched its first global equity mutual fund in 1969, and has grown into one of the largest investment management firms in the United States. Today, the company acts as a subsidiary of the Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company. Through its subsidiaries and the company itself, a variety of products and services are offered to its diversified array of clients that include individuals, institutional investors, and corporations on a global scale. The company focuses on four core beliefs: active management delivers better outcomes, independent investment boutiques leader to letter ideas as the model for its investment teams, global perspectives emphasized in its approach to investing, and established, appropriate risk frameworks. Some of Oppenheimer Funds’s products offerings include mutual funds, separate accounts, institutional solutions, 529 plans, and retirement accounts with its investments diversified across asset classes of Equities, Fixed Income, and Alternatives. The company conducts its research mainly on an external scale, employing fundamental analysis on investments to create its line of portfolios. Oppenheimer Funds launches and manages equity, fixed income, balanced, mutual asset mutual funds, and hedge funds for its clients. As of 2015, the company manages 86 funds with almost a quarter trillion in mutual fund assets managed. The company’s employees are split into 13 management teams who oversee operations of its assets that are invested in 76 countries. Some of Oppenheimer Fund’s most notable mutual funds include its International Growth Fund, Main Street Small Cap Fund, Developing Markets Fund, and Equity Income Fund.
