Saudi oil giant Aramco is collaborating with energy tech company SLB and industrial gas leader Linde to establish a large-scale carbon capture and storage (CCS) center in Jubail, eastern Saudi Arabia. This project aims to become one of the world's largest CCS centers, marking a significant step in Aramco's efforts to reduce carbon emissions and promote sustainability.
Under the shareholder agreement, Aramco will hold a 60% stake in the CCS center, while Linde and SLB will each own 20%. The first phase of the project is expected to be completed by the end of 2027, capturing and storing 9 million tons of CO2 annually.
Aramco is also piloting new carbon capture technologies with Carbon Clean and Samsung E&A to reduce installation costs and enhance efficiency.
