Apple Inc. recently addressed privacy concerns by clarifying its practices regarding data collected through its Siri voice assistant. The company stated that it has never sold Siri-collected data nor used it to create marketing profiles. This clarification follows a recent settlement of a lawsuit where plaintiffs accused Apple of recording private conversations inadvertently triggered by Siri and sharing them with advertisers and third parties.

As part of the settlement, millions of Apple users may receive up to $20 per device that supports Siri, such as iPhones and Apple Watches. Apple emphasized that it does not retain recordings of Siri interactions unless users explicitly opt in to help improve Siri, and even then, recordings are used solely for that purpose. The company reiterated its commitment to developing technology that enhances the privacy of Siri interactions.
