Polaris Inc. (PII), a leader in powersports, has announced a significant $1 million donation to Minnesota 4-H Youth Development. This contribution is set to bolster all-terrain vehicle (ATV) and utility terrain vehicle (UTV) safety education and training initiatives. Since commencing its partnership with Minnesota 4-H in 2019, Polaris has offered safety education to nearly 4,000 young individuals and has reached over 800,000 youth through various safety displays at events.
This substantial investment by Polaris aims to refine and expand the existing safety curriculum and materials, enabling year-round programming for Minnesota 4-H's ATV and UTV safety training, and increasing its reach. Furthermore, the donation will facilitate the training and certification of new adult volunteers to enhance the dissemination of ATV and UTV safety information to a wider audience.
Polaris's initiative includes the launch of pilot programs in Utah and Wisconsin, supported by Minnesota 4-H leadership. The expansion will also feature a nationwide online youth ATV and UTV safety course, projected to increase Minnesota youth participation by three to fourfold. The program focuses on certifying participants through the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) for public trail riding, emphasizing responsible operation, risk awareness, safety protocols, and land stewardship.
Pam Kermisch, Polaris's Chief Customer and Growth Officer, expressed enthusiasm about extending safety education efforts, highlighting the importance of blending outdoor experiences with responsible riding. This donation marks an increased commitment from Polaris to ensure safe and responsible riding practices among the youth.
