Morgan Stanley Capital Partners (MSCP), the middle market private equity arm within Morgan Stanley Investment Management, has successfully closed North Haven Capital Partners VIII (Fund VIII) with total capital commitments reaching approximately $3.2 billion. This marks a significant achievement as the fundraising surpassed the initial $2.5 billion target and reached the $3.0 billion third-party hard cap in less than a year since the first close in Q3 2024.
Fund VIII demonstrates a 60% increase in commitments compared to its predecessor, North Haven Capital Partners VII, which closed at around $2.0 billion in 2021. This high investor interest was driven by a mix of existing and new institutional investors, including high-net-worth family offices and individual clients from Morgan Stanley Wealth Management across North and South America, Europe, and Asia.
Aaron Sack, Head of Morgan Stanley Capital Partners, expressed gratitude towards investors, emphasizing the potential for favorable valuations amidst the current economic landscape. He highlighted the U.S. middle market as a key growth driver, focusing on company transformations by partnering with founders and management teams.
Fund VIII has already allocated approximately 17% of its capital towards three investments: American Restoration, a property mitigation and restoration company; FoodScience, a provider of nutritional supplements; and Thermogenics, a boiler service and maintenance firm. These investments align with MSCP's strategy of leveraging global resources for operational value creation and growth.
David N. Miller, Global Head of Private Credit and Equity at Morgan Stanley, praised the successful fundraise as a testament to the confidence in MSCP's strategic model, which combines Morgan Stanley's global reach with the expertise of its in-house operating team to drive value through disciplined execution and transformational partnerships.
