Orkin (ROL, Financial) has published its 2025 Top 50 Bed Bug Cities List, with Chicago holding the number one spot as the most bed bug-infested city for the fifth year in a row. The rankings are based on treatment data from May 15, 2024, to May 14, 2025, encompassing both residential and commercial bed bug treatments.
Among the notable movements in the rankings, Hartford, Connecticut, made the most dramatic entrance by jumping 48 spots to No. 35. Conversely, significant reductions in bed bug reports were observed in major cities including Charlotte (No. 31), Philadelphia (No. 24), and New York (No. 15).
As travel-heavy months approach, Orkin emphasizes the importance of early detection and prevention, crucial during peak travel seasons. Orkin's entomologist, Ben Hottel, highlights the need for vigilance and proactive measures to prevent the spread of bed bugs, especially during summer travel.
