Planet Labs Germany GmbH, a subsidiary of Planet Labs PBC (PL), has announced a significant multi-year €240 million agreement funded by the German government. This strategic deal aims to bolster European peace and security through advanced satellite services, including direct downlink services on Pelican satellites over designated European regions.
The agreement provides access to high-resolution imagery and other valuable intelligence through PlanetScope and SkySat data. These services are designed to enhance situational awareness and maritime domain awareness, offering a cost-effective solution for accessing space-based capabilities without the complexities of maintaining satellite infrastructure.
"We are incredibly proud to expand our vital collaboration with Germany as they rapidly enhance and bolster regional peace and stability," said Will Marshall, CEO and Co-Founder of Planet Labs. Planet's satellite services model is tailored to meet the growing demand for geospatial intelligence, which is crucial given the shifting geopolitical landscape.
This development follows Planet’s recent agreement with NATO, further cementing its role as a trusted partner for governments seeking robust strategic capabilities. The contract will leverage satellites already under development, with revenue recognition commencing in January 2026.
As a public benefit corporation listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker PL, Planet continues to demonstrate its commitment to delivering high-performance satellite solutions that meet the evolving needs of its global customer network.
