Perplexity AI, a generative AI search startup backed by NVIDIA (NVDA, Financial), has announced a new premium subscription plan priced at $200 per month, targeting high-end users. The Perplexity Max plan offers unlimited access to features like spreadsheets, web applications, and presentation tools. Subscribers will also get early access to the upcoming Comet AI web browser and services utilizing the latest models from competitors like OpenAI's o3-pro and Anthropic's Claude Opus 4.

The Perplexity Max application is available online, and the company's iOS app has also been launched. According to a company blog post, "Perplexity Max is our most advanced subscription service, designed for users seeking unlimited AI productivity and immediate access to Perplexity's latest products and features. It allows users to fully explore their curiosity."

This announcement comes as major tech companies have shown interest in acquiring or partnering with Perplexity AI. Apple (AAPL) has reportedly discussed acquisition or collaboration due to challenges in its AI capabilities. Before acquiring half of Scale AI, Meta (META) also considered acquiring Perplexity. In May, Perplexity successfully raised $500 million, valuing the company at over $14 billion.
