Full Year 2021 Investec PLC Earnings and Business Update Call Transcript
Ladies and gentlemen, good morning and welcome to this presentation of our financial year '21 results. I welcome you from Sandton. I'm joined by Nishlan Samujh, on my left, our Finance Director.
We'll start off with a quotation from Nassim Taleb, and I'm going to read it out to you. "Nature uses disorder to grow stronger. It's like going to the gym. You get stronger because you subject your body to stressors and gain from them." It is self-evident that the year under review was characterized by significant challenges that arose out of COVID. So right at the beginning, I would like to thank our clients for their support and also thank our colleagues for the work that they have done. They were dedicated to servicing our clients through a very tough year.
As we look at the year, we see an environment that is improving. I think at the end of the presentation, I hope you will take away the fact that our business has been very resilient that our efforts to reduce complexity, to focus the business and to improve capital allocation are
