Good morning, and good afternoon to everyone who has joined us, this financial year 2020 results call of the JSE. I am Leila Fourie, the CEO of the JSE. and I wanted to start by sharing my thoughts on 2020, which has, from all angles, been an incredibly challenging and important year for the company, for it's stakeholders and for our country.
We started the year faced with a deteriorating operating environment, but hopeful about our projects and the government's plans to foster a cohesive society and a stronger economy. The pandemic then started occupying headlines a year ago. We're all aware about the political and economic repercussions of this crisis, in South Africa, particularly.
The pandemic stabilized -- destabilized economies and societies. The turbulence was exacerbated by low growth, high unemployment and S.A.'s fiscal debt burden.
