Pearson PLC to Discuss Generative AI Strategy Update Call Transcript
Good afternoon, and thanks, everyone, for joining. Joining me today are Tom Simon, President of our Higher Education division; Gio Giovannelli, President of our English Language Learning division; and Mike Howells, President of our Workforce Skills division.
Now given the recent conversations around generative AI, we thought it'd be useful for you to hear where we, Pearson are in executing on our own AI strategy. And we want to give you an overview of some generative AI product enhancements that we're developing and rolling out across our businesses. Before we get to that, it's important to remind you that Pearson has a unique range of assets supporting the diverse business with expertise in assessments and qualifications, language learning, workforce solutions and virtual schools. Together, they represent 80% of our profits alongside our Higher Education division. Just over a week ago, we announced a very strong Q1 performance with sales growing 6%, underpinned by each division growing in line or ahead of our expectations.
