Before starting the presentation itself, I'd like to take a moment to honor the memory of those Standard bankers who have lost their lives in the pandemic. There's been a handful. Our thoughts are with them and with their loved ones. I'd also like to express our profound gratitude to the health professionals and to other essential workers, including thousands of Standard Bank staff. Thank you for your courage, your determination, your stamina and your empathy.
The results we are presenting this morning reflect the economic damage caused by the pandemic, but they also reflect the strength of the Standard Bank Group. They demonstrate our capacity to support our clients and our communities, and to make considerable strategic progress during the most difficult 6 months in living memory.
